The iMT800is an excellent all-around boom box that received the PC Magazine’s Editors’ Choice recommendation. It uses efficient Class D amplifiers and dynamic compression on the lower frequencies for high volume output without distortion. Speakers include twin 1” tweeters, dual 3” midrange drivers, and a 5.25” subwoofer with a matching passive radiator for increased bass. I used this for a few camping trips and picnics and am very happy with the quality. I’ve entertained groups of up to 30 people and it gets plenty loud without distorting. The FM radio has good reception. The only reason I’m selling it is I’m upgrading all of my portable audio to Bluetooth. The price includes a set of rechargeable lithium-ion D batteries, an AC adapter and a 6ft3.5mm cable. Does not include remote. Below are excerpts from some reviews “An excellent-sounding iPod/iPhone speaker dock, earns our Editors' Choice” “The iMT800iPod dock delivers thunderous low-end sound” “The iMT800can get quite loud and deliver thunderous bass without any distortion, should you decide to boost the volume way up. Altec Lansing uses built-in dynamic compression on the lower frequencies: This means that as you raise the overall volume, the system limits the volume of the bass so that it doesn't distort or blow out your speakers. Trust me, the bass doesn't sound limited at all. It's very powerful.” “Overall, we were pretty impressed with what we heard. There's good detail, and the system is well balanced (read: smooth), with no big holes in the high, low, or midrange. And what's immediately clear is that this thing has some serious kick to it.” “Thanks in large part to its side-firing 5.25-inch subwoofers (one's active, one's a passive radiator), the Mix is designed to play loud and fill a good-size room with sound.” “This makes for a great party box.” “Altec has tuned the iMT800 very impressively, indeed. The iMT800’s added subwoofer pushes it further in the bass department, and not in a trivial way. Even on its default, relatively judicious initial setting,iMT800’s sheer bass power is considerabl e.”
